How It Works
Each player receives 13 cards from a standard 52-card deck. The caller gets the first five and prepares to call trump.
After seeing 5 cards, the caller picks the trump suit — the suit that beats all others. Choose wisely; it decides the round.
Play cards in turns. Follow the led suit or trump to steal the trick. The team winning more tricks takes the round.
Win enough rounds to Court the other team. First to Court wins the match — and the eternal bragging rights.
Pick Your Rung
The suit you call becomes the Rung — it beats every other suit in play. Choose based on your hand, not your heart.
Questions & Answers
Glossary
Rung
The trump suit for the round. The card colour that beats all other suits. From Urdu/Hindi for "colour".

Alternative names for Rung, widely used in India and among diaspora communities.
Caller
The player who sees the first five cards and declares the trump suit (Rung) for the round.
Sar (Trick)
One complete round of four cards, one from each player. The highest card (or trump) wins the Sar.

Winning enough consecutive rounds to whitewash the opposing team. The winning condition of Rung.
Goon Court / Double Sar
Winning all 13 tricks in a single round — the most dominant outcome, worth two Courts.
Senior Ace
An optional rule where the Ace of the trump suit ranks above all other cards in the game.
Void Twelfth
A rule that voids the round if the caller's team wins exactly 12 tricks — a near-Goon that doesn't fully count.
Panj (First Five)
The first five cards dealt to the caller. Seeing them is the only information the caller has when declaring the Rung.
