Why play against bots?
- Practice without pressure. Try a risky trump call, experiment with signalling, see how a hand plays out — without anyone groaning across the table.
- Learn the rules. Bots play by every official rule, so a few solo games is the fastest way to internalise how trump-calling, following suit, and Goon Courts actually work.
- Always available. No need to round up three humans at 1am. Open the site, fill the seats with bots, deal.
- Fill empty seats. Got two or three real players? Drop bots into the rest of the seats and play a full match.

The Rung bots are not random-card generators. They make decisions based on the actual game state:
- Trump calling. The bot caller picks a trump suit based on the strength and length of its first five cards — not at random.
- Following suit. Bots follow the led suit when required, and choose trump strategically when void.
- Saving high cards. Bots hold back trump Aces and Kings for critical late-round tricks instead of burning them on the first lead.
- Partner cooperation. Bot partners try not to over-trump each other, and they read the cards their partner has played so far when choosing what to lead next.
- Endgame counting. By the last few tricks, the bot has tracked which suits and trumps remain in play, and plays accordingly.
The result is opponents who feel like competent intermediate humans — beatable, but not pushovers. If you play sharp, you'll win most matches. If you take a casual line, the bots will punish it.
Bots and ranked seasons
Solo games against bots are pure practice — they don't count towards your rank. A match only counts for ranked seasons (and RP) when each team has at least one real player.
Mixing bots and humans
You don't have to choose. Every seat in a room is independent — you can have 1 human + 3 bots, 2 humans + 2 bots (with humans on the same team or split across teams), or 3 humans + 1 bot. The bot fills any seat the host designates before the match starts.

What bots don't do
Honest about limits: the bots are good at the mechanics — following rules, basic strategy, hand-counting — but they don't trash-talk, they don't read your face, and they don't bluff for the love of the game. For the full Rung experience — the chai, the chaos, the cousin who insists every loss was your fault — you want real humans on the line. Play with friends for that. Bots are for sharpening your game between sessions.
